For Basil, the move into production feels like a natural extension of his storytelling journey. He started his career assisting Vineeth Sreenivasan in Thira (2013), before making his directorial debut with Kunjiramayanam in 2015. His sports comedy Godha (2017) and the groundbreaking superhero film Minnal Murali (2021) cemented his place as one of Malayalam cinema’s most exciting directors.
As an actor, Basil has also carved a special place in the hearts of audiences. From his memorable supporting role as Fr. Kevin in Joji (2021) to lead roles in Jan. E. Man (2021), Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022), Palthu Janwar (2022), Falimy (2023), and the recent Nunakkuzhi (2024) and Ponman (2025), he has showcased remarkable versatility.
Fans flooded his announcement post with congratulatory messages, while industry colleagues like Tovino Thomas — Basil’s close collaborator in Minnal Murali — humorously quipped about wanting the lead role in the first production. Social media is abuzz with speculations that the debut project could once again explore the superhero genre, though no official confirmation has been made.
Born in Sultan Bathery, Wayanad, in 1989, Basil’s journey has been one of persistence, creativity, and continuous evolution. Married to Elizabeth since 2017 and a father to daughter Hope Elizabeth Basil, he often credits his family for being his strongest support system.
