Why Is It Called 'Bazooka'
Since ‘Bazooka’ the upcoming Malayalam movie is going to hit the theatres on October 2024 starring Mega Star Mammooty, Gautham Vasudev Menon along an outstanding cast, you might be thinking what the name really suggests that ‘Bazooka’ seems uncanny to many people. The crew has released a glimpse of the movie which is said to be a thriller and the official trailer has piqued curiosity and has confirmed that the movie reflects a suspenseful genre that promises a seismic impact.
But, what is the meaning of the word ‘Bazooka?’
The movie trailer shows a trifle play with weapons, the word is indeed used to reflect the genre that the word “bazooka” first appeared in literature in P.G. Wodehouse’s 1909 novel, “The Swoop, or How Clarence Saved England.” In the book, a character describes a musical instrument used in music halls. In the 1930s, American comedian Bob Burns popularised a musical instrument called the “bazooka.” It was a peculiar-looking instrument that resembled a trumpet.
Later, in World War II, the US Army developed an anti-tank weapon that resembled Bob Burns’ musical instrument and the weapon was nicknamed “Bazooka” due to its similarity in shape. It is expected that the movie resembles the weapon and may unveil surprising turns of events with similar fictitious weapons. In May 1942, the US Army tested the prototype of the Bazooka launcher and rockets at the Aberdeen Proving Ground the trial was a success with the launcher scoring several hits on a moving tank. The Bazooka went on to become a crucial weapon in World War II which is known for its effectiveness against tanks. Its name inspired by a musical instrument became synonymous with power and precision the name is apt for the movie to reflect the genre.
Talking about the movie, even though the character of the actor has not been revealed in the teaser, reports speculate that Mammootty is to feature as Vinod Menon, a former military officer and hence it proves why Bazooka is in the limelight. The film is directed by Deeno Dennis and produced by Dolwin Kuriakose and Vikram Mehra featuring a magnificent cast and crew.
