Bazooka Day 2 Collection: Mammootty's Game Thriller Sees A Dip, Mints Rs 5.20 Crores

Actor Mammootty’s latest launch, Bazooka, the game thriller, is facing a box office clash with other releases of Malayalam cinema. The film, which opened with a decent collection on its first day, has witnessed a significant dip on its second day. Here is the day 2 collection of Mammootty and director Deeno Dennis‘s Bazooka.

Bazooka, the film that was released among high expectations, opened with a decent collection on its release day. The film witnessed Rs 3.2 crore in collection on its opening day, promising a good start. Despite the hype, the day two earnings slipped to Rs 2 crore, bringing the total to 5.20 crore in India net collections.

This early drop signals the film’s tight competition at the box office. On its day 2, Bazooka recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy of 39.77%. While Kochi remained a stronghold with a high 67% occupancy— peaking at 87% during night shows—the same couldn’t be said for other regions. Trivandrum managed a modest 46.25%, while metros like Bengaluru (16%) and Chennai (20.25%) saw much lower footfalls.

Meanwhile, Alappuzha Gymkhana and Maranamass, the other box office opponents of Mamootty’s Bazooka, are also witnessing a hike in their collections. Nazlen’s sports drama, Alappuzha Gymkhana, opened with an impressive collection of  ₹2.65 crore. The film, which received significant attention among the audience, has collected a total of Rs 5.15 crore in two days of its release.

On the other hand, Bazil Joseph’s dark comedy entertainer, Maranamass, which opened with a promising collection of Rs 1.05 crore, added Rs 1 crore to the tally today on its second day, taking the total for two days to Rs 2.05 crore gross at the Mollywood box office. This reflects the scattered interest of the audience across the variety of genres.

Bazooka: The game thriller

Written and directed by Dennis, Bazooka has been jointly produced by Sarigama and Theater of Dreams. While actor-director Gautham Vasudev Menon, as ACP Benjamin Joshua, introduces the game between the good and the evil, Mammootty leads the game as a key player, Vinod Menon.

Other characters like Babu Antony, Hakeem Shahjahan,,  Sumit Naval and Spadikam George will make the levels tougher. Notably, director Deeno’s brother, Dinu Dennis, is also a part of the cast.

Here is Timeline‘s review about Mammootty’s game thriller. With Bazooka, Mammootty once again proves he’s not just an actor but a curator of new cinematic languages, and when a character calls him Jack Nicholson for shifting from one character to another, it looks like the words are justified. Mammootty’s usual masala of mixing style in thriller movies is repeated here as well. Actual ‘wow’ moments for the people who love the actor and his body of work. And Deeno Dennis, with his debut, offers a fresh grammar—one where joysticks, justice, and jarring truths intersect thrillingly.
