“Love Is An Overrated Emotion,” Says Dhanush Ahead Of 'Tere Ishk Mein' Release
During the ongoing promotions of Tere Ishk Mein, actor Dhanush K Raja was asked what love means to him. After a brief pause, he replied with disarming honesty: “I don’t know… It’s just another overrated emotion.”
The candid remark has since set off conversations online, especially as it contrasts sharply with the film’s raw, all-consuming depiction of love.
The comment arrives at a moment when the film’s newly released trailer on Saturday has taken the internet by storm. Dropped by T-Series, the 3-minute-23-second trailer has already crossed 17 million views within 24 hours, signalling enormous anticipation for the intense love saga.
Directed by Aanand L. Rai, Tere Ishk Mein brings together Dhanush and Kriti Sanon for the first time, casting them as Shankar and Mukti, two lovers whose relationship unfolds in Benaras amid themes of surrender, obsession, healing, and transformation.

Backed by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions, the film marks the third collaboration between Dhanush and Aanand L. Rai after the acclaimed Raanjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021).
With music composed by A.R. Rahman, lyrics by Irshad Kamil, and vocals by Arijit Singh, the teaser’s haunting score and shadowy visuals have fuelled discussions around the film’s darker, more violent take on romance. Viewers have described it as “dark, intense, and unforgettable,” praising both the chemistry between the leads and the atmospheric worldbuilding.
The film, which also stars Sushil Dahiya and Maahir Mohiuddin, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 28, 2025, in Hindi and Tamil. Cinematography is handled by Tushar Kanti Ray and Vishal Sinha, with editing by Hemal Kothari.

Dhanush’s personal life has often mirrored the emotional complexity he brings to the screen. Formerly married to filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth, with whom he shares two sons, the actor announced their separation in 2022 after nearly 18 years together.
Though media speculation has occasionally linked him to co-stars and collaborators, Dhanush has consistently maintained privacy around his relationships.
