Releasing worldwide on June 20, 2025, Kuberaa is a multilingual crime drama that brings together a powerhouse cast including Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil, under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula.
The film explores the rise of Deva (played by Dhanush), a man caught between ambition and morality, power and pain. Rashmika’s role as Sameera is expected to bring emotional weight and complexity to the story, while Nagarjuna stars as Deepak, adding veteran gravitas to the plot. Jim Sarbh’s character Neeraj reportedly adds further tension in a world soaked in crime, greed, and redemption.
Initially announced in 2021 as D51 (marking Dhanush’s 51st film), the film saw multiple changes before settling on its final title. The project was renamed DNS after Nagarjuna joined the cast (an acronym for Dhanush–Nagarjuna–Sekhar), and after a title dispute earlier this year, the film was officially renamed to Kuberaa in March 2024.
Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, the film was made across locations like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Goa, Bangkok, and Tirupati. In a particularly talked-about sequence, Dhanush reportedly shot for 12 hours straight near a dump yard, showcasing his trademark intensity.
The film also boasts a strong technical team, with music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy, editing by Karthika Srinivas, and production design by Thota Tharani. The soundtrack has already struck a chord with fans, with songs like “Poyiraa Mama” and “Anaganaga Kadha” creating buzz across platforms.
Kuberaa is set to clash at the box office with Aamir Khan’s comeback film Sitaare Zameen Par, billed as a spiritual sequel to his 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. While SZP leans toward emotional, family-driven storytelling, Kuberaa is expected to draw in action and crime genre fans, offering a completely different flavour.
