Param Sundari Review: Sidharth Malhotra & Janhvi Kapoor Win Hearts, Here’s What Viewers

Param Sundari, the romantic comedy from director Tushar Jalota and Maddock Films, hits the theatre today, bringing together Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in a vibrant love story that promises humour, charm, and plenty of drama.

The movie has already drawn attention for its soundtrack, especially Pardesiya and Bheegi Saree, and the sparkling chemistry between the leads. Now, let’s look at what social media is saying about Param Sundari.

A reviewer on the X platform wrote that although Param Sundari has several flaws, what irritated them the most was the poorly written female characters. They said the film doesn’t even feature more than two women in meaningful roles, and they felt this was a major shortcoming.

Another X user wrote: Okay, I liked the film. Typical happy romcom (with a lot of North-South tropes but well).”

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared his review on X, calling Param Sundari “DELIGHTFUL” and giving it a rating of ½. He wrote that the film is a feel-good entertainer that works for the most part, praising the crackling chemistry between Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor as well as the excellent music, especially the song Pardesiya.

He noted that contrary to speculation, the film doesn’t borrow from 2 States, Chennai Express, or RRKPK, but instead charts its own course with a distinct flavour. Adarsh said director Tushar Jalota handles romance and drama with maturity, though the post-interval portions could have been sharper.

He also highlighted the stunning Kerala locations, the visual spectacle of the Vallam Kali boat race in the finale, and the chartbuster music by Sachin–Jigar. According to him, Sidharth Malhotra makes a strong impression with his charisma, while Janhvi Kapoor delivers her career-best act—natural, spontaneous, and brimming with confidence. The supporting cast also earned praise.

Another moviegoer wrote: “Super Entertaining – Param Sundari is a breezy entertainer that manages to hold attention, the film thrives on its vibrant energy, heartfelt storytelling and a refreshing approach to romance.”

Another reviewer on X praised Param Sundari, writing that even without knowing Malayalam or its culture, the film gave them “major travel goals” and made Kerala their next stop. They highlighted Janhvi Kapoor’s performance, calling it her best role yet as Sundari, while applauding Sidharth Malhotra’s portrayal of Param, which felt “just spot on” as a Punjabi boy falling for a Malayali girl.

The reviewer added that although the story is simple, the screenplay, visuals, and Kerala’s rich culture make the film a treat, crediting director Tushar Jalota for presenting it with respect. They also described the song Pardesiya as “pure magic” and concluded that Maddock Films “has another hit on their hands.”
