Director Prithviraj Sukumaran and Superstar Mohanlal’s upcoming action entertainer, L2: Empuraan is today’s talk of the town. The teaser launch of L2: Empuraan was a treat to the fans. The stage was filled with happiness, nostalgia, legendary unions, and whatnot. We all know Prithviraj as an actor, but there are lesser-known facts about him as a director, right?

But don’t worry; actor Mohanlal filled the void by sharing his experience with the Lucifer director. You know what? Mohanlal called Prithvi “a very cruel director.” You heard it right.
Even though Prithviraj claims himself as an “accidental director,” our superstar has an entirely different opinion on this case. He praised the L2: Empuraan director, saying, “He is a very cruel director. He will extract what he wants from us, and that’s how films are made.”
It doesn’t end there. Mohanlal added, “Actors perform well because of the director. There are many people here who have been my directors, and I trust my director. As an actor, I have high hopes for Prithviraj. He will be one of the best directors in India.”
On showering his blessings, Mohanlal also corrected Prithvi, saying that Prithviraj is destined to create films like Empuraan, with the actors merely playing a part in his vision.

Followed by the blockbuster success of the 2019 film, Lucifer, L2: Empuraan was announced in October 2023. Exploring politics, crime, and power dynamics, the film was shot in about 20 foreign countries, including the UK, the US, and Russia. The production of the film was wrapped in December last year.
So, L2: Empuraan, the second installment of the planned trilogy, boasts a stellar cast with actors Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Shashi Kapoor, Indrajith, Baiju Santosh, Prithviraj, and Saniya Iyyappan. One of the most anticipated films, L2: Empuraan, is set to hit theatres on March 27, 2025.
