
'Sardar 2' First Look Out: Karthi Is Back On His Next Mission As Agent Sardar (Image-X/Psmithran)
Sardar 2, the sequel to actor Karthi‘s blockbuster spy action thriller, got an update today. The spy thriller by director PS Mithran has begun its promotion spree by releasing the intense first look and teaser.
The first look of Sardar 2 hints at the film’s extension, focusing on the international issues. With Karthi returning in the dual roles as father and son (Agent Sardar Chandrabose and Vijay Prakash), Rajisha Vijayan is also set to return, although her role remains undisclosed. The film also features SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, and Ashika Ranganath.

The teaser declared the battle between Karthi, the spy agent and the cruel villain played by SJ Suriyah. The teaser hints at the storyline that emphasises the destruction aimed at India while also showcasing the skill of the spy agent. Introducing SJ Suriyah as Black Dagger, the mastermind and the most wanted criminal of all the intelligence agencies of the country, the teaser also raises the question of whether Sardar can save his country fighting against Black Dagger.
The film’s production, which began in July 2024, wrapped up in early March 2025. The film has music composed by Sam C. S., cinematography handled by George C. Williams, and editing by Vijay Velukutty.
The prequel of the film, Sardar, released in 2022, emerged to be a blockbuster and earned around Rs 103 crore at the box office. The film, released as a Diwali special, received highly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Unveiling the film’s first look, PS Mithran wrote, “Eid Mubarak, folks! Presenting the Sardar 2 first look prologue from 12.45 pm today.”

While the prequel ends with Agent Sardar Chandrabose assigning his son a mission in Cambodia, Sardar 2 is expected to explore the father–son duo as spy agents. Ahead of the first look release, the makers also reminded us of the plot of Sardar with a short recap video.
The announcement video also hints at the sequel’s next mission and its underlying connection with Japanese context, saying, “Agent Sardar is back on his next mission.” Confirming the same, the first look poster also features a dragon image at its backdrop.
