Sikandar barely crossed Rs 50 crore worldwide on its opening day, a collection that may have been a cause for celebration some ten years ago but is just middling in an era when Bollywood films are opening to that much in domestic markets alone.
As per Sacnilk, the action entertainer has opened with Rs 26 crore at the box office. However, thee film secured its place as the eighth highest opening for a Salman Khan starrer. Notably, it is lower than the first-day collection of Vicky Kaushal’s Chaava, which opened with Rs 31 crore. However, the film’s makers have announced that Sikandar had earned Rs 54 crore worldwide on its opening day.
Piracy issue and its impact at the box office
Since the film got leaked online hours before its theatrical release, the opening records of Sikandar was also widely affected due to piracy.
Bollywood trade analyst Komal Nahta described it as “the worst nightmare for any producer,” revealing that producer Sajid Nadiadwala had the authorities remove the film from 600 websites overnight. However, the issue seems to have widely affected the film’s box office record.
