Sikandar Leaked Before Release
In a major setback for Bollywood, Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film Sikandar was leaked online just hours before its theatrical release. Bollywood trade analyst Komal Nahta described it as “the worst nightmare for any producer,” revealing that producer Sajid Nadiadwala had the authorities remove the film from 600 websites overnight. However, the damage had already been done, with the piracy still spreading.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar marks the filmmaker’s Bollywood comeback after delivering action-packed blockbusters like Ghajini (2008) and Holiday (2014). Known for his gripping narratives of lone warriors taking on corrupt systems, Murugadoss has teamed up with Salman Khan, a megastar synonymous with action hits such as Wanted (2009) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).
The film, made on a staggering budget of ₹200 crore, was slated for a grand Eid release on March 30. Starring Rashmika Mandanna alongside Salman Khan, Sikandar also features an ensemble cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Suniel Shetty, Kishore, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar.
While piracy has long plagued the film industry, Sikandar’s pre-release leak is particularly damaging given its massive budget and high expectations. With the film now available on unauthorised platforms, concerns are mounting over its box office performance.
Despite the setback, fans remain eager to watch Sikandar on the big screen, with industry insiders hoping that strong theatrical numbers will mitigate the financial blow.
