Sikandar Review: Is It Salman Khan’s Ghajini With AR Murugadoss?
AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar is one such movie in which Salman Khan’s macho persona and its expansive execution is not going to help him. If the makers and fans had imagined that Sikandar would be the Ghajini of Salman Khan, the director and writers have done a huge mistake by taking the common sense of the viewer for a ride. Otherwise, how would brainless story — of a Raja shifting his base to Mumbai to solve the problems of the city by roaming around in a Kaali-Peeli and a lot of money — is going to be something like Ghajini which had changed the trajectory of thriller movies in Bollywood.
Salman Khan who has built his Bollywood career around a strong macho persona—physically dominant, emotionally resilient, and morally upright, is struggling here both with his choice of story and misunderstanding or the limitations of his body.

In fact, his old avatars of action-packed roles, hyper-masculine body language, and protector archetype are not here in Sikandar and you see a body moving here and there without making much impact to the senses of the audience who once loved Chulbul Pandey and Bajrangi.
This seems, the banality of Sikandar needs not just the Salman Khan’s attention but of talented movie makers who are shifting their base from South to Mumbai. After your initial break in Bollywood, settling for silly storylines with A-star actors wouldn’t help you. Find original and impactful stories and show the worth you are capable of.
