"A Moment I Dreamed Of": Asif Ali Reacts To Rekhachithram Being January's Only Hit

Asif Ali is currently basking in the success of his recent crime thriller Rekhachithram. The film created a huge buzz among the audience and emerged to be the only profitable Malayalam film in January 2025. Here is what the star Asif Ali said about the film’s achievement.

Rekhachithram, the mystery crime thriller by director Jofin T. Chako, received a great reception from the audience and critics alike. The blockbuster film offered a thrilling ride of investigation with stars including Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, Manoj K. Jayan, Siddique, and Indrans, along with a special cameo by Mammootty.

The film also surpassed the box office record of Mammootty’s investigation thriller, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse. A recent report released by the Kerala Film Producers Association on the box office performances of January releases also confirmed that Rekhachithram was the only film that managed to turn a profit in the first month of January.

Reacting to the film’s achievement, Asif Ali said that it was the moment that he had been dreaming of. Asif, who expressed his happiness at a public event, stated, “When they say that out of all the films released in January 2025, Rekhachithram was the only successful venture, I must admit that it’s a moment I was dreaming of. I am smiling with pride.”

The Kishkindha Kandam actor expressed his gratitude towards director Jofin and writer Ram John, who placed their faith in him during the challenging phase in his career. He also mentioned the contribution of his co-stars, who breathed life into the film. Asif Ali also added that Rekhachithram was the biggest film of his career and said, “The confidence that Rekhachithram has given me is immense.”

Produced with a small budget of Rs 9 crore, the film emerged as the top-grossing Malayalam film of the year 2025 and earned around Rs 75 crore at the box office so far. Upon ending its theatrical run, the investigative drama will be streaming on SonyLIV from March 7.
