Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse is a simple and beautiful Mammootty film. With his collaboration with Gautham Vasudev Menon, the director of Kaakha Kaakha, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, Yennai Arindhaal, Minnale, Vaaranam Aayiram, and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, everyone would be expecting something of flamboyance, but both of them make it sure that Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse is a fine convergence of two worlds.
Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse enters the story with a composed calm and progresses with the pace the script demands.
There may be aspersions from the audience why a Mammootty-GVM movie goes this slow. But it gains speed and delivers the proper intensity a crime thriller demands.

There can always be a question: whether this script demands Mammootty or not? The answer is that the legendary actor can simply anchor this movie, and the movie has several scenes that he can perfect really well. The dialogue and some occasions in the movie are carefully written only for Mammootty.
His character is shady but intelligent and works under the philosophy “observation is the conversation.”
With the recent pathbreaking character selections, Mammootty has set a standard that he can enter into any room, and that is okay for the audience. For example, in an initial scene of Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, he simply joins a couple of youngsters and mingles without any hassles.
Gokul Suresh has got good screen time with Mammootty in Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse and justifies his casting as assistant of CI Dominic the detective.

The revelation of the movie is Sushmitha Bhat as Nanditha. Her character comes to the story when Dominic goes to investigate the missing Pooja Ravindran. Pooja was in a relationship with Karthik, and Nanditha is her sister. She is a dancer, and their family is from Nagercoil. Once introduced to the movie before the halftime, she takes centre stage as the main female character of the movie.
With a convincing performance, Sushmitha Bhatt fits well as the character, who has many shades that serve as the backbone of the story. Her elegance as an artist character is noteworthy.
Mammootty’s character says once: Nanditha has the ability to distract one. The viewer, along with Dominic, is being distracted as the story finds its punch in the second half.
