Malayalam Portal Manorama Online called the movie completely different, which began in silly jokes while taking the cinephiles to an immersing experience of investigative thriller. The review by the media house mentions the movie is different from the usual investigative thriller, adding that the director has also opened possibilities to tell more stories with private detective Dominic.

However, Indian Express views the movie as average, noting that it does not have that much thrill as anticipated. According to the news portal Lenseman, a larger part of the first half is spent giving the audience details about the kind of person Dominic is, showing the needy, lonely, and egoistic aspects of this character humorously, underscoring that the story starts to leave the fun side and focus on the main case later. “Even though we may not have guessed the twist in the tale, the structuring of the revealing is done in a way that the much-needed shock value was not there for that moment,” the portal observes.

As per the portal, the lack of star vanity is something that immediately makes Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse interesting for the viewer. It notes that even the scenes that have this hero-worshipping tone have a spoofy nature to their credit. It points out the drama in the story was so low that the film had a very abrupt and flat interval block.

Observing the megastar’s performance, the portal, acknowledging that Mammootty is on an experimenting spree, monitors he is playing more of a character than a hero.
