The incident in question allegedly took place abroad in 2023. The woman, who had travelled overseas for work, claims she was introduced to Nivin Pauly by a female friend. The actor, along with the complainant’s female friend and four others, has been implicated in the case.

The woman approached the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was established after the release of the Hema Committee report on sexual misconduct in the film industry. Following her complaint, the SIT directed the Oonnukal police to investigate the matter, leading to the formal registration of the case.

This is the 11th case filed with the SIT and the Premam actor is the sixth accused.

A woman named Shreya, allegedly took the victim to Dubai by offering her a chance in a movie. The complaint is that she was tortured by others after being brought to Dubai. The accused in the case are Shreya, AK Sunil, Binu, Basheer, Kutan and Nivin Pauly.

The alleged incident involving Nivin Pauly took place in November 2023. It is reported that the actor has been charged under section 376. In this case, the special investigation team will record a detailed statement from the woman. Shreya is the first accused in this case.

The Hema Committee was established in 2017 to investigate the challenges faced by women in the Malayalam cinema industry, especially in the wake of a sexual assault case involving actor Dileep. The committee was chaired by retired High Court judge Justice Hema, along with veteran actor Sharada and former IAS officer KB Valsala Kumari.
