“False, Untrue, Baseless”: Nivin Pauly On Sexual Assault Allegations

Responding to the reports of a sexual assault case filed against him in Kerala’s Ernakulam, Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly called the allegations “false”, “untrue” and “baseless”. The Premam actor reiterated that he is determined to go to any extent to prove the allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light.

Here’s his full statement:

“I have come across a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl. Please know that this is entirely untrue. I’m determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light. Thank you for your concern. The rest will be handled legally.”

The sexual harassment case has been lodged against Nivin Pauly, following a complaint filed by a woman from Neriyamangalam, Ernakulam. The Oonnukal police have registered the case, naming six individuals, including the actor, as accused.

The incident allegedly occurred abroad in November 2023 when the woman, who had travelled overseas for work, claims she was introduced to Nivin Pauly by a female acquaintance named Shreya. The woman alleges that after being taken to Dubai under the pretext of being offered a film role, she was subjected to harassment. Shreya, along with AK Sunil, Binu, Basheer, Kutan, and Nivin Pauly, has been implicated in the case.

This is the 11th case filed with the Special Investigation Team (SIT), established after the Hema Committee report on sexual misconduct in Malayalam cinema. The SIT, formed in response to concerns about industry practices, directed Oonnukal police to investigate, leading to formal charges being placed under section 376. A detailed statement will be recorded from the woman as part of the ongoing investigation. Shreya has been named as the first accused.

The Hema Committee, chaired by retired Justice Hema, was formed in 2017 to address issues faced by women in Malayalam cinema.
