"Why Did Prithviraj Sign Up For Sarzameen?" Asks Social Media
Released on July 25, 2025, on JioHotstar, Sarzameen has quickly become a trending topic for the wave of criticism it has sparked online. Directed by Kayoze Irani in his debut feature and produced by Dharma Productions in collaboration with Star Studios, the film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol, and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
Set in Kashmir and built around themes of nationalism, family, and conflict, the film aimed high but appears to have fallen short of audience expectations. Viewers across platforms like X, Reddit, and Instagram have been vocal about their disappointment, critiquing everything from the plot and pacing to the performances and portrayal of sensitive issues.

An X user wrote: “had a solid premise but failed to deliver. Weak screenplay and direction let it down. Prithvi, Kajol & the rest of the cast did well, but there was no real emotional connection. Overall, a mid-watch with no standout moments. AVERAGE.”

On social media, many Malayalam viewers are questioning why Prithviraj is choosing weak Hindi scripts like Sarzameen, saying he deserves far better than such poorly made films.

Disappointed! Why rajuvetta? The thread was fine ,how a father is forced to choose between his family and his country and the repercussions he has to face. But the entire movie fails to evoke any emotions. And that twist🥲.

#Sarzameen review: The lead characters remaining the same and having absolutely zero changes in physical appearance after almost a decade is something only Bollywood is able to achieve in their films. https://t.co/rR0R2zWk6C pic.twitter.com/3FvAv6BfOD
