Senior Doctor Terminated, FIR Filed Against Him For Allegedly Thrashing Patient At IGMC In Shimla
Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: A senior doctor at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla has been terminated from his service after a video of him allegedly thrashing a patient went viral on social media.
Authorities sacked the doctor from his position following disciplinary action taken by the Himachal Pradesh health department on the basis of an inquiry report submitted by the institute. Additionally, an FIR has also been lodged against the doctor by the attendants of the patient. The doctor, identified as Dr Raghav Nirula, was involved in an incident with a 36-year-old male patient, Arjun.

The video shows the doctor engaging in an altercation with a patient and subsequently thrashing the patient. The doctor allegedly hurled abuses at the patient without provocation and attacked him with an iron rod and punches.
After the video went viral on social media, the accused doctor Raghav Narula was earlier suspended. While remaining in suspension, the doctor said he has no regret in his action. Following the public outrage, a large crowd gathered at the hospital demanding action against the accused doctor.

The patient reportedly visited the hospital for medical test after experiencing breathing difficulties. When he asked for oxygen, the doctor questioned his admission status, and allegedly started hurling abuses at him.
After the patient protested the doctor’s behaviour, the doctor started hitting and punching the patient.
