Doctor Who's Nakab Was Pulled Down By Nitish Kumar, Didn't Join Duty

A woman doctor who was publicly humiliated by the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not join the service, as per the PTI report. The officials were reportedly not able to contact her or the family members.

Patna civil surgeon Avinash Kumar Singh confirmed that Nusrat Parveen had not reported for duty till 7 pm on Saturday, after which the joining window had also closed. The reason for her not joining the post has not been clear, as no contact was made with the doctor or her family.

However, the joining deadline has been extended beyond December 20, and the woman doctor can join on Monday; it remains to be seen whether she joins or not.

The controversy began while CM Nitish Kumar pulled down the Nikab of a woman doctor while distributing the appointment letters at a program held at the CM secretariat in Patna.

Nearly five-six people have joined, and Nusrat Parveen is not among them. Her name was there in the list. As per the protocol, candidates must first report to the civil surgeon’s office before joining their assigned workplace.

Bihar governor Arif Mohammad Khan criticised the uproar by dismissing it as a father-daughter issue. “It pains me to hear the word ‘dispute’ in this case. Can there be any row between a father and a daughter?”, he said.  “Nitish Kumar considers female students as his daughters”, he added.

As per Mahfoozur Rahman, principal of Government Tibbi College & Hospital (GTCH), where Nusrat Parveen is a second-year student, the joining deadline has been extended. Reportedly, Ms Parveen attended college on December 17 or 18, and the principal noted that she still has the option to either join the duty or pursue higher education.
