West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari”s derogatory remark against Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has opened widespread condemnation and filing of several police complaints.
It was while talking to reporters about Rahul Gandhi”s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Monday, BJP leader made disrespectful comment directed at Congress leader. “You are asking me about Rahul Gandhi over the last four days. Who is he, a Haridas Pal (a non-entity)? He is a g***u,” Times of India quotes as Suvendu Adhikari is saying.
“Who is he? He is a G*NDU…”

Congress has lodged complaint against Suvendu Adhikari at several police stations. State Congress leader Suvankar Sarkar told PTI that they have submitted complaint against BJP leader “for making this distasteful and derogatory remark” against Rahul Gandhi. “This is unacceptable and defamatory,” Congress leader added and demanded police to take swift action.
Continuing further, BJP leader cited Rahul Gandhi”s “coal on the stove” remark which was earlier made fun of by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. “He says you should heat tea after putting coal on a stove. Coal on a stove? I have never heard anything like this,” Suvendu Adhikari added.
Later, during a press conference at the BJP office in Kolkata, Adhikari defended his use of words and said: “I called him [Rahul Gandhi] an idiot. If he speaks like an idiot then what can I do? I have not said anything else,” Indian Express reports.
However, West Bengal BJP have not responded in this matter.
Meanwhile, TMC general secretary and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh condemned Suvendu Adhikari remark and wrote on X: “What language is the traitor using to target Rahul Gandhi. Such uncouth behaviour in politics must stop. How low will state Congress leaders acting as BJP”s pimps stoop? Will you take this lying down? Suvendu”s politics has no shame now. I protest this sick language,” NDTV quotes.
In the post, TMC leader has also used the occasion to aim at both the BJP and the Congress”s state leaders. It, therefore, underlines the internal crisis between INDIA alliance partners, the Congress and BJP over seat-sharing.
