Estranged Husband Hacks Wife To Death In Tamil Nadu, Puts Selfie On WhatsApp Status
A 28-year-old woman from Tirunelveli was brutally murdered inside a women’s hostel in Coimbatore on Sunday, sending shockwaves across Tamil Nadu.
The victim, Sripriya, who worked at a private company in the city, had been living separately from her husband, Balamurugan, following marital disputes.
Police said Balamurugan arrived at her hostel on Sunday afternoon under the pretext of meeting her, carrying a sickle hidden in his clothes.
According to investigators, the couple began arguing shortly after they sat down to talk. In a sudden and violent turn, Balamurugan allegedly pulled out the weapon and attacked her repeatedly inside the hostel premises.
Terrified residents ran out as the assault unfolded.

Police officials said the incident took an even more disturbing turn when the accused clicked a selfie with Sripriya’s body and uploaded it as his WhatsApp status, accusing her of betrayal.
Officers believe he suspected that she was involved with another man, though inquiries are still underway to verify the extent of his suspicions.
Balamurugan did not attempt to flee and remained at the spot until the police arrived.
He was arrested immediately, and the sickle used in the crime was recovered from the scene. The body was sent for post-mortem, and a detailed investigation has been launched.

The gruesome murder has reignited political tensions in Tamil Nadu. Opposition leaders have accused the ruling DMK government of failing to curb rising crimes against women, pointing to recent instances of violent attacks and sexual offences.
They allege a decline in overall law and order and are demanding stronger preventive measures.
The state government and the police have countered these claims, calling the incident an isolated act rooted in personal animosity.
