Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Presents Union Budget 2026
New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting her ninth Budget in the Parliament today, Sunday, first time in the history of India that the Union Budget is being presented on a Sunday.
The Budget is expected to provide robust push including measures to sustain growth momentum, maintain fiscal discipline, and contain reforms that could buffer the economy from global trade frictions, including U.S. tariffs.

Presenting the Budge, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the legacy industrial sectors will be revived to improve their cost competitiveness and efficiency through infrastructure and technology upgradation. The Minister also declared Rs 40000 crore for semiconductor development
Reviving and strengthening traditional industries remains important for sustaining growth, preserving jobs, and supporting regions that are dependent on these sectors, the minster said, adding that she proposes to introduce a scheme to revive 200 legacy industrial clusters to improve their cost competitiveness and efficiency through infrastructure and technology upgradation.
