Union Budget 2026 'Woefully Short Of the Hype, Totally Lacklustre': Congress's Jairam Ramesh
New Delhi: Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh has reacted to the Union Budget 2026 presented on Sunday, February 1. In a social media post on X, the Congress Rajya Sabha MP said that the Union Budget 2026 falls woefully short of the hype that was generated about it, and that it was totally luclustre.
Noting that the documents need to be studied in detail, the Congress leader said that the Budget speech was also non-transparent since it gave no idea whatsoever of budgetary allocations for key programmes and schemes.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar alleged that there was no benefit for the state from the Union Budget presented today, adding that he is yet to go through the Budget in detail. He also demanded that the MGNREGA act be restored, as he also made it clear that the new rural employment legislation.
