Union Budget 2026: Finance Minister Proposes 7 High-Speed Rail Corridors Across India

New Delhi: In a major infrastructure push, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed developing seven high-speed rail corridors across the country while presenting the Union Budget 2026 today, February 1.

The high-speed rail network with seven new corridor project connects key cities including Hyderabad–Bengaluru, Delhi–Varanasi, Varanasi–Siliguri, Pune–Hyderabad, Hyderabad–Chennai and Chennai–Bengaluru.

The project is expected to facilitate faster and environmentally sustainable passenger travel. The proposed corridors, according to the minister, would improve connectivity between major economic and cultural centers while reducing the carbon footprint of long-distance travel.
