Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, will be walking out of jail for over three weeks as he was granted temporary release. This would be the sixth time he is walking out of the jail for temporary release within the last 21 months, as said by a senior Haryana government officer. The number of times the convict of murder and rape was given parole would be baffling.
Mr. Gurmeet was convicted for two murder cases and two rape cases and was serving life imprisonment. He was granted parole last time in July 20 of this year. he was awarded 30 days parole last time. He was also released on August 15, on his birthday and he allegedly stayed at his UP Ashram in Barwana, Baghpat.
This is the sixth time in last 21 months, and fourth time in less than a year that Ram Rahim was granted parole. In October 2022, he was granted parole for 40 days ahead of the Haryana panchayath election and Adampur Assembly bypoll. This is the eighth time in three years he was being granted parole. He got parole for first time in October 24, 2020. The first parole was granted for one day to meet his mother who was ill.
Mr. Rahim received a 20-year life imprisonment for sexually assaulting two female followers. In last three years, he spent around 193 days out of the jail on parole.
