Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Gets Another 40-Day Parole: 15th Relief Since Conviction

New Delhi: Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape-murder convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, has got 40 more days of parole, 3 months after his last 40-day parole in Aug 2025. The latest parole marks his 15th relief since 2020, arguably making him all these days stay out of hail. The convict has been 406 days out of Jail since 2020, sparking public outrage against the Dera chief’s frequent parole.

Since his arrest in 2017, the convict has been serving a 20-year jail term for raping two of his disciples. The Dera chief and three others were also convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago.

The development has drawn criticism over repeated bail and parole to the rape and murder convict, and the critics have slammed the Union Government and the judiciary for the same.

Dera Sacha Sauda has publicly supported BJP in multiple elections since 2014, with followers mobilised for the party. The BJP leaders have also attended his online satsangs during paroles, and releases are timed before polls.
