Israel 'Fatherland' And India 'Motherland': PM Modi's Statement At Israel Parliament Sparks Outrage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his second Israel visit on Wednesday, February 26, and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the Indian leader at Ben Gurion Airport with a hug, praise and warmth. The Prime Minister was also honoured with the opportunity to address Israel Parliament known as Knesset.

During the address, Prime Minister Modi made a controversial remark suggesting Israel as fatherland and India as motherland. “Israel is ‘Fatherland’ And India ‘Motherland,” the Prime Minister said, sparking outrage among a section of Indians for indirectly attributing the title “fatherland” to a foreign state.

Several users on X wondered when did this (Israel fatherland and India motherland) happen. A political commentator, Dr Nimo Yadav 2.0 sarcastically noted that basically the remark is hinting to bhakts (Blind supporters of BJP) to call Israel as their father from now on.

 

Another commentator on social media platform X, LIJAI JOHNY, suggested that the Prime Minister Modi calling Israel as fatherland and India motherland is “ridiculous”

“India looks submissive, diplomacy childish and the whole world is laughing at us. Modi should return ASAP before he causes more embarrassment,” the user wrote.

“How could he equate Israel with India. Israel may be father to Israeils & bakths but not for Indians,” another X user, Manishbpl wrote on his handle.
