Amid Israel’s ongoing aggression on the besieged enclave of Gaza, India has dispatched over 20 military drones manufactured by Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India Ltd to the Israeli military.

They have exported 900 medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) UAVs known as “killer drones” to Israel. As per the wire report, drones similar to the Adani-made Hermes 900 are being extensively used in the Israeli Defence Force”s military aggression in Gaza.

However, India’s support for the Palestinian cause is an integral part of the nation’s foreign policy. TMC MP Saket Gokhale on Thursday questioned the recent move of the Indian government to send drones to Gaza aiding Israel in committing genocide in the besieged enclave.

“Why is PM Modi giving Made-in-India drones by Adani to Israel which will be used to butcher innocent civilians in Gaza?”, he asked on X.

He further asserted in his post that ‘India’s official stand publicly & at the UN on the Israeli attack on Palestine has been of calling for peace and reaffirming that India supports a 2-state solution’.

But India has now taken a stand contradictory to its official policy. “PM Modi is has reportedly sent 20 drones to his friend Netanyahu which will be used to bomb innocent civilians in Gaza,” TMC leader added.

He then listed out some questions to the Ministry of External Affairs to be answered. “Why is India getting involved & taking sides in an armed aggression in another country? And if we are to get involved, why is the Modi Govt supporting Israel in its massacre of civilians?” he asked.

Later pointing out the fact that the drones were manufactured by the Adani group, he wrote in bold letters, “Oh and guess who manufactures these drones? It”s ADANI!”.

This new deal with Israel however reveals how India is actively complicit in the inhumane military operations of Israel in Gaza. India has initially expressed its unconditional solidarity with Israel following the October 7 attack. Though India abstained from responding to the resolution in the UN General Assembly calling for a humanitarian pause in October 2023, two months later, India voted in favour of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Israel’s attack on Gaza has killed at least 28,576 Palestinians and wounded 68,291 others since October 7.
