JIH President Greets Muslims On Eid ul Fitr, Calls Upon To Embody Attributes Developed Through Fasting

In his Eid-ul-Fitr address, the president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Sadatullah Husaini greeted the Muslim community and emphasized the importance of reflection on one’s spiritual journey during Ramadan. Many areas in India will be celebrating Eid ul Fitr, the celebration happens after the culmination of Ramadan fasting and on the first day of month of Shawwal, on Thursday. Muslims in Kerala, Kashmir and Ladakh celebrated Eid ul Fitr today, joining with many other parts of the world.

Mr Husaini highlighted the deeper spiritual dimension of Ramadan beyond mere rituals. Pointing to the importance of fasting not only as a physical ritual but also as a means of spiritual transformation. the JIH President cited the Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) Hadith regarding the essence of fasting and outlined the four key Quranic purposes of fasting: piety, thanksgiving, guidance, and glorification of Allah.

Syed Sadatullah Husaini emphasized the significance of engaging deeply with the Quran during Ramadan, allowing its teachings to guide and shape individuals’ lives. He reminded Muslims that Ramadan is referred to as the month of patience, and how fasting cultivates patience, which is foundational to leading a righteous life. He stressed upon the importance of enduring trials with patience and resisting impulsive actions.

The JIH President advised the community that individuals are encouraged to embody virtues such as patience, piety, and continuous self-improvement amid their daily challenges, upholding principles and remaining steadfast in the face of obstacles.

Pointing to the responsibilities of the Indian Muslim community during the upcoming general elections, the JIH President emphasized the importance of upholding peace, justice, and fairness through conscientious voting. Syed Sadatullah Husaini expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, acknowledging their suffering and sacrifice. He condemned the injustices perpetrated on them called for Allah’s assistance, healing, and peace for Palestine, and prayed for the freedom of Al-Aqsa Mosque. His address concluded with a prayer for the empowerment of the Muslim Ummah, justice for the oppressed, and prosperity for the region, invoking Allah’s wisdom and praising Him immensely.
