Delhi and other North Indian areas will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Thursday. As the crescent moon was not sighted in north India today, Jama Masjid’s Hilal Committee has announced that the Muslims in the region will complete the month-long fasting of Ramadan on Wednesday and will celebrate the Eid on April 11. Detailed preparations were made in several places in North India under the supervision of moon sighting committees to spot the crescent moon.
Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, president of Firangi Mahal Central Moon Committee and Imam of Eidgah mosque, Lucknow has also announced that the crescent moon was not sighted in the region and the Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on April 11, after completing 30 days of Ramadan.
Earlier, the new moon was sighted in Kerala and the religious heads have announced tomorrow as the Eid Al Fitr day. The crescent moon was sighted in Malappuram’s Ponnani, according to initial reports. As per reports, in Malabar region of Kerala, the moon lag to sight the crescent moon was more than 30 minutes and two people in Ponnani had to chance to sight the moon. This was later confirmed by the local religious leaders and then later by religious heads in Kozhikode.
Gulf countries will also be celebrating Eid Al Fitr on April 10, tomorrow after completing 30 days of Ramadan. The month of Ramadan was started one day ahead of India in the Gulf countries.
