We Are Not With The INDIA Alliance: AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi

“We are not with the INDIA alliance’, ” said Asaduddin Owaisi, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP on Thursday. Mr Owais was speaking to the media after attending the no-confidence debate session in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon session of Parliament in New Delhi.

INDIA or the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance is a newly formed union of twenty six opposition parties. They aim to defeat the ruling BJP government in the upcoming parliament elections in 2024.

‘Our party AIMIM and BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) together gave the no-confidence motion that was accepted by the honourable speaker’, Mr Owaisi said.

The no-confidence motion was moved by the opposition against the BJP led government over the ongoing ethnic violence in the North Eastern Indian state of Manipur.

During the debate, the Opposition parties walked out in protest of the PM not speaking about Manipur even after one and a half hour of his speech.

‘The nation was waiting to hear about Manipur. The man (Mr Modi) hasn’t gone there, he hasn’t come to the house (Parliament) for a few days, and came today and wasted all of our time’, said Mahua Moitra, an MP from All India Trinamool Congress, who is also a part of the INDIA alliance.

‘When INDIA walked out we did not. We were waiting for PM Modi to speak on Manipur, China, and high prices’, said Mr Owaisi.

He (Mr Modi) gave a very weak and uninspiring reply to the people, he added.

During the debate in Parliament also Mr Owaisi expressed his disagreement towards BJP and Congress. He said that, ‘Neither BJP nor Congress speaks up when Muslims are in trouble’, reported the Indian Express.
