“Mamata Banerjee Sustained Major Injury”: Trinamool Congress

Trinamool Congress chairperson and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a major injury, party’s social media handle posted on Thursday evening along with her photos in which Ms Banerjee can be seen lying on a hospital bed with a deep cut on her forehead.

NDTV, while quoting sources, said Ms Banerjee suffered injuries at home and is currently being treated at Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital.

As per a report on Hindustan Times, following her return from an event in Kolkata’s Ballygunge, Ms Banerjee had slipped, hitting her head on a piece of furniture at her residence.

“Our chairperson Mamata Banerjee sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” the social media post said on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Sukanta Majumdar, West Bengal President of BJP, took to X and said, “Wishing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health.”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin mentioned a road accident in his tweet, expressing his shock and concerns over her health. He wrote, “Shocked and deeply concerned about the road accident involving Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee didi. My thoughts are with her during this difficult time, and I’m wishing her a speedy recovery.”

Ms Banerjee, as per PTI sources, was admitted to the hospital by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
