A man and his son were arrested from Shivakote village in Bengaluru for setting an earthmover on fire which came to remove the encroachment from the area. The duo sprinkled petrol over the local administration’s JCB led by the Tehsildar of the Yelahanka Taluk on Thursday, reports NDTV.

The two accused Bachegowda and his son Chetan abused a group of revenue officials who were in the village to demolish illegal structures built on encroached lands. The duo confronted the officials and threw petrol on the JCB machine. The JCB’s driver had a narrow escape as he managed to jump out in time.
As per the officials, they have earlier sent a notice to Bachegowda asking him to remove the encroachment. As he failed to comply, officials thereby reached the village with a JCB to remove them.

Cases have been registered against the two. The police officials have said that they have registered a case against Bachegowda and his son as per the complaint filed by the Revenue officials under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal code, including an attempt to murder and the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964.
Notice was issued to the offenders after issuing a circular on the road encroachment in Yelahanka by the Revenue Department on September 15, 2023.
