Next Parliament Session To Begin On January 31: Report

As per the reports, next parliament session, the Budget Session of the Parliament will commence on January 31, and will conclude on February 9. On the first day, there will be President Droupadi Murmu”s address, followed by the presentation of the Economic Survey. On February first, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present Union Budget, the report add.

Budget Session of the parliament starts every year with the President”s address to both houses. This is the final budget presentation of the BJP led-Central government before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and constitute the first to be held in the new parliament building. Last year, the Budget Session, 2022 of Parliament began on January 31 and has been adjourned sine die on April 7, a day ahead of the schedule. In the previous year, Union Budget 2022 was presented on February 1.

The winter session of the parliament has been eventful with major security breach happened in the Parliament on December 13 and massive suspension of Opposition MPs. During the Zero Hour in the Parliament, two men jumped from the visitors’ gallery and ran into the Lok Sabha chamber. The men were carrying smoke canisters sprayed unidentified, yellow colour smoke. Both the intruders were arrested. Notably, the security breach coincided with the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament carried out by five armed attackers.

Following, the opposition MPs demanded a statement from Central government concerning the recent security breach. Their protest resulted in the suspension of a total of 146 opposition MPs for the remaining session of the parliament, citing disruption of the parliamentary proceedings. The winter session of the parliament concluded on December 22.
