In continuation of the “suspension spree,” Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Thursday suspended three more Oppostion MPs from the Parliament. The suspended MPs are DK Suresh, Nakul Nath, and Deepak Baij belong to the Congress party. They have been suspended from the lower house, citing “unruly behaviour.” Since December 14, a total number of 146 opposition MPs have been suspended from both houses of the parliament.
With the suspension of three MPs, the number of suspended MPs in the Lok Sabha touched 100. The Lok Sabha has concluded the Winter session today, a day before the schedule.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi moved a motion for the suspension of three MPs; “This House having taken serious note of misconduct of Deepak Baij, DK Suresh, and Nakul Nath in utter disregard to the House and authority of the Chair through the display of placards, entering into the Well of the House…may be suspended from the House for the remaining session,” The South First reports as Minister is saying.
The suspension series began when Opposition MPs demanded a statement from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah over major security breach happened in Parliament on December 13. The MPs were suspended for disrupting the parliamentary proceedings which include holding protests, raising slogans, and displaying placards. And they will be suspended for the remainder of the Winter session of the Parliament which will conclude on December 22.
On Thursday morning, suspended MPs from the India bloc grouping took a protest march from the old Parliament building to Vijay Chowk in central Delhi.
