Tuesday witnessed the suspension of 49 more opposition MPs from the Lok Sabha constituting the total number of suspended MPs to 141. This comes a day after 78 Parliament members were suspended over the security breach protest on Monday. The suspended opposition MPs include Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Karti Chidambaram, NCP leader Supriya Sule, and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah.
Lok Sabha has taken strict action against the opposition MPs for disrupting the proceedings in the house. With this, a total of 141 MPs have now been suspended for the remainder of the ongoing Winter session of Parliament. This includes 95 MPs from Lok Sabha and 46 from Rajya Sabha. Earlier on December 17, Parliament suspended 78 opposition MPs. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha has been adjourned until 2 p.m. Earlier, the House faced adjournments, with opposition MPs raising slogans and displaying placards.
Opposition members have been protesting in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over the security breach that happened in Parliament as two intruders entered the Lok Sabha chamber on December 13 and released coloured smoke from canisters. Opposition MPs mainly demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah address Parliament on this matter.
