In response to the major security breach occurred inside the Parliament on Wednesday, five have been arrested and as per the latest reports eight Lok Sabha Personnel have been suspended. Congress led-INDIA Bloc grouping urged a detailed statement from Home Minister Amit Shah and strict against the BJP MP Pratap Simha whose office issued visitor”s passes to the intruders.
Concerning INDIA groupings demand in this regard, Congress’ General Secretary in charge of communication and Rajya Sabha MP, Jairam Ramesh, wrote on social media handle X: “1. A detailed statement by the Home Minister in both Houses, followed by a discussion on the very serious and shocking security breach witnessed in the Lok Sabha yesterday. 2. Strict action against the BJP MP Pratap Simha who provided the visitor passes to the intruders.”
Senior Congress leader also communicated that Modi government”s failure to take up these “perfectly legitimate and reasonable demands” resulted in the adjournment of the both houses of the Parliament on Thursday morning.
The huge security breach incident occurred on Wednesday, the day coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. It was on afternoon, during Zero Hour in Parliament when two men jumped from the visitors’ gallery and ran into the Lok Sabha chamber. The men were carrying smoke canisters sprayed unidentified, yellow colour smoke. Both the intruders were arrested. Delhi Police has registered case under anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and sections of Indian Penal Code. Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered an enquiry of parliament security breach incident, and set up an enquiry committee.
Due to Opposition uproar over parliament security breach incident, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha got adjourned to meet again at 2 pm. Trinamool Congress MP Derek O”Brien was suspended from the Upper House for “gross misconduct” and “defiance of the Chair” for the remainder of the Winter Session of Parliament. The Opposition India Bloc grouping are also planning to meet President Droupadi Murmu over the issue.
