Congress led-INDIA bloc walked out of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday afternoon in view of the major security breach happened on Lok Sabha and Home Minister Amit Shah”s failure to pronounce any statement concerning the matter.

Congress’ General Secretary in charge of communication and Rajya Sabha MP, Jairam Ramesh, wrote on social media handle X: “INDIA parties walked out of the Rajya Sabha this afternoon on the issue of the extraordinary events in the Lok Sabha today and the refusal of the Home Minister to make a statement on the matter, especially after such a huge breach of security on the very same day Parliament was attacked 22 years ago”.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon during Zero Hour in Parliament when two men jumped from the visitors” gallery and ran into the Lok Sabha chamber. The men were carrying smoke canisters sprayed unidentified, yellow colour smoke. Both the intruders were arrested. Notably, the security breach coincided with the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament carried out by five armed attackers.

In the upper house, there had a heated exchange between Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, and Piyush Goyal, Leader of the House on the matter of security breach incident at Lok Sabha. Demanding Home Minister”s response, Senior Congress leader also wrote on X handle: “The security breach that took place in Parliament today is a very serious matter. We demand that the Home Minister should come to both the Houses and give a statement on this.”

Similarly, Congress General Secretary (organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP KC Venugopal on X demanded, “a thorough review of the security arrangements in the new Parliament building.”

As per the reports, the intruders entered the building securing visitor”s pass issued by BJP MP Pratap Simha”s office.  Pointing at BJP,  the Congress on its official X handle shared BJP MP photo with Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a caption “”Na hi wahan koi ghus aaya hai, na hi wahan kisi ne kisi ko ghusaya hai” (Neither has anyone entered there, now has anyone allowed anyone to enter there).”

The caption on the image, as reported by Telegraph India, is an apparent reference to Prime Minister”s words during an all-party meet after Chinese intrusions on the border in Eastern Ladakh.
