'Hiked Fuel Prices After Getting Votes': Congress Slams Centre, 'Delayed For Assembly Elections'
New Delhi: Congress leadership has slammed the BJP-led Union government for deliberately delaying the price hike of petrol and diesel until the Assembly Elections. Leaders alleged that the government hiked fuel prices after getting votes from the citizens during the recently held elections.
West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Ponducherry have had their assembly elections conducted over the past months, with the results being declared earlier this month.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot alleged that the petrol and diesel prices were increased by Rs 3 per litre immediately after the elections ended in five states. “Prices were not raised to attract voters, but once the elections were over, the burden was passed onto the public,” the Congress leader said, highlighting that the prices were intentionally kept unchanged during the elections.
