US Carrier Spirit Airlines Winds Up Operations, Cancels All Flights Amid Fuel Price Hike
US carrier Spirit Airlines has cancelled all its flights as the airline starts the wind-down of its operations due to spiking fuel prices in recent weeks.
The low-cost carrier said that the situation left the airline with no choice but to close down operations in an orderly manner. The airline was reportedly set to emerge from its second bankruptcy in a year.

Spirit Aviation Holdings, the Spirit Airlines’ parent company, on Saturday, May 2, said that it started an orderly wind-down of operations, effective immediately.
In a statement, the airline said that it is with great disappointment that Spirit Airline has started winding down its global operations, effective immediately. All flights are cancelled and customer services are no longer available. While we are not able to rebook your flight on another airline, we will automatically process refund for any flight purchased through Spirit with a credit or debit card to the original form of payment.

The airline then expressed its happiness with its offerings of ultra low-cost models on the industry for the last 33 years, adding that it had also hoped to serve its guest for many years to come.
