Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers and Members of Parliament walked into the new Parliament building today afternoon. Soon after the members entered the new building, the sitting in the Lok Sabha started with an address by PM Modi.

“As we make a new beginning, we have to move forward while forgetting the bitterness of the past,” PM Modi added.

“This building is new, everything here is new, but there is a symbol of heritage present here that connects the yesterday with today. On this new beginning of parliamentary democracy, the witness of first ray of freedom, which will inspire the future generation, is the holy sengol. This is that sengol which was touched by India”s first PM Pandit Nehru,” PM Modi said.

He also mentioned that the Parliament is not a place to work for growth of the party but for development of the nation.
