
NIA Arrests CRPF Jawan For Allegedly Passing Info To Pakistan Since 2023
Punjab: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a CRPF personnel, identified as Moti Ram Jat, for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistan’s intelligence officers.
According to the NIA, he was involved in espionage activities for Pakistan and had been passing classified information on national security to Pakistani intelligence officers since 2023.

In its statement, the NIA said that Jat had been receiving funds from Pakistani intelligence officers (PIOs) through various conduits.
“We have arrested the CRPF personnel, identified as Moti Ram Jat. He was actively involved in espionage activity and had been sharing classified information related to national security with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) since 2023. We have also found that he was receiving funds from the PIOs through various conduits,” a NIA spokesperson said.
The CRPF personnel were arrested in Delhi. He has been remanded to NIA custody till June 6.
The interrogation of the accused is currently underway, the NIA said.
This comes amid security agencies increasingly monitoring subversive activities since India and Pakistan’s conflict over the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22.

At least 12 people have been arrested from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in May on charges of espionage. The arrested include YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and 31-year-old Guzala from Punjab. The two were allegedly in contact with Pakistani officer Ehsan-ur-Rahim, aka Danish, posted at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Investigation pointed to an alleged Pakistan-linked spy network operating in northern India.
