Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh, amidst the controversy of Opposition alliance chief ministers boycotting the important meeting of NITI Aayog, alleged that it has been an attached office of the PMO and has functioned as a drumbeater for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier today, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee walked out of the meeting which is currently undergoing in Delhi after alleging insult and discrimination. Ramesh also said the treatment meted out to Ms Banerjee is unacceptable.
“It has not advanced the cause of cooperative federalism in any manner. Its functioning has been blatantly partisan, and it is anything but professional and independent,” the Congress’ general Secretary in charge of communications alleged.

He also claimed the body, which replaced the Planning Commission of India, “muzzles all divergent and dissenting viewpoints, which are the very essence of an open democracy”.
“Its meetings are a farce to be reckoned with. Its treatment of the West Bengal CM today, although typical of the NITI Aayog, is unacceptable,” Ramesh said in a statement released on social media platform X.
Since it was established ten years ago, NITI Aayog has been an attached office of the PMO and has functioned as a drumbeater for the non-biological PM.
