Government’s Fact Checking Handle Says Mamata Banerjee’s “Mic Stopped” Claim Is Misleading

Following the report that the microphone of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was switched off during the 9th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact checking handle has said that the claim is “misleading.”

“The clock only showed that her speaking time was over. Even the bell was not rung to mark it,” the PIB, which functions as an interface between the Government and the media, wrote in a post on X.

Mamata Banerjee, the only chief minister from INDIA bloc, had claimed that her microphone was stopped when she was speaking. She was speaking to the media after walking out the meeting, alleging discrimination.
