In an X post on January 11, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that it is “great news” for students, youth, entrepreneurs, and industrialists who want to see the IT sector’s growth in Bihar. Under the new IT policy, the Bihar government will provide a 30 percent subsidy for companies, investors, and employment generators investing between Rs 5 to Rs 30 crore. The Bihar government made this move as part of attracting substantial investments to the state.
Tejashwi Yadav also mentioned in his post that the state government will provide a 50 percent subsidy on lease and rental charges. The energy bill subsidy is another main highlight, as there will be a 25 percent subsidy on electricity expenses. Apart from this, the Bihar government will also provide an employment generation subsidy. “The government will also provide an employment generation subsidy of maximum amount of ₹5000/ per worker, per month, for 5 years, in the ESI/EPF account of the employees of the employer companies,” said Bihar deputy CM.
For investments of more than Rs 100 crore or generating a minimum of 1,000 direct employment, the state government said that it has provisions of a “Tailor Made Package”. Notably, the Bihar IT Policy 2024 was cleared by the State Cabinet on January 8.
