Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday replied to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha. In his speech, Modi continued his scathing attack on Congress.

Reacting to his speech, TMC MP Derek O’Brien criticising Modi said that he has delivered a “looong Mann Ki Baat (Rajya Sabha edition)” speech. He further added that he had converted the Parliament into a deep, dark chamber. “No guarantees about employment, price rise, Manipur. Hollow words about federalism from a man who has blood on his hands for BUTCHERING FEDERALISM”, O”Brien wrote on X.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut by calling it an election speech said, “Every speech by PM Modi is an election speech. Half of it (speech) has lies,” he said.

Reminding PM Modi to look back into India’s history of freedom struggle, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said, “I urge everyone, especially the PM, to turn the pages of history. Only then they will find out that out of those who participated in the freedom struggle to oust British colonial power from the country, none belonged to the BJP…” He further alleged that the ancestors of the ruling party supported British rule and lobbied further to strengthen them.

Commenting on PM Modi’s mentioning of Jawaharlal Nehru in all of his speeches, Shiva Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said that she has never seen a bigger fan of Jawaharlal Nehru than PM Modi. “He speaks of Jawaharlal Nehru in all his speeches… It would haver been better if he spoke on his work…” she added.

In full confidence to win the Lok Sabha 2024 election, Union minister Sarbananda said, “It is clear that next term is also going to be of the BJP. In last 60 years, the Congress has cheated all sections of the society… Congerss is out of the hearts of the people…”

Commenting on the inclusion of data unlike Congress in his speech, senior advocate & Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Jethmalani says,” Has the Opposition ever answered the PM”s very weighty speeches – full of substance, full of facts, fill of historical narratives…There is no such mettle on the other side. They can”t compete with the PM. So ultimately, it is just one cliche, that it is a political speech…”.

“It was a dying declaration that they have done nothing in 10 years”, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said criticizing the BJP government. “Who wrote to the Britishers that they will join the British Army?… What will he say to the Congress that got the country independent?” Tiwari asked.
