BJP leader Sunil Deodhar has filed a complaint against journalist Nikhil Wagle over “offensive” tweets targeting senior BJP leader LK Advani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and President Droupadi Murmu. The complaint, filed at Vishrambaug Police Station, contends that Wagle”s tweets are designed to insult prominent political figures.
The controversy erupted in the wake of the announcement of the Bharat Ratna award conferred upon LK Advani. Deodhar contends that Wagle”s actions are calculated to disrupt social harmony and endanger law and order.
“Filed a Police Complaint at Vishrambaug Police Station #Pune demanding strict action against @waglenikhil who made derogatory remarks against our country”s highest offices Honorable @rashtrapatibhvn Murmu Ji, PM @narendramodi Ji & Bharat Ratna #LKAdvani Ji. ACP Vasant Kunwar has accepted the complaint & assured of action after legal opinion,” Sunil Deodhar posted on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a video of his statement.
Deodhar underscores the urgency for swift legal action, emphasising that Wagle”s tweets propagate a casteist mindset, disregarding Scheduled Castes and Tribes in the country.
In response to the complaint, Wagle has pledged to fight Deodhar in court, stating via Twitter, “Now I will expose your (RSS) hypocrisy in a court of law.”
Following his pivotal role in the BJP”s victory in Tripura in 2018, Deodhar, a former RSS pracharak, has been entrusted with multiple responsibilities within the party. Until recently, he served as BJP”s national secretary and co-in-charge of Andhra Pradesh.
Engaging actively through social media and local engagements, Deodhar has been a dynamic presence in Pune. With three decades of organizational experience, he has expressed his aspiration to contest the Pune Lok Sabha seat and serve as a lawmaker.
