RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that India never had a fight or war issue or conflict like what is going on between Israel and Hamas. He made this comment while speaking at an event to mark 350 years of the coronation of Chhatrupati Shivaji Maharaj in a school in Nagpur.
He said that in this country there is a religion and culture that respects all sects and faith. That religion is Hinduism, he said. He then added that India is a country of Hindus and that does not mean we reject all other religion.
“Once you say Hindu, it is not needed to be told that Muslims too were protected. Only Hindus do this. Only India does this. Others have not done this,” he said.
He then said that everyone might have heard about Ukraine, Hamas-Israel war. He then said that there was never war on such issues. The invasion during Shivaji maharaja’s times was that of kind. But we never fought battles on this issue with anybody. That is why we are Hindus,” he further said, says ANI.
Bhagwat comments came after the war entered to its 16th day. Gaza has been besieged since October 7 after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel killing 1,400 people. At least 4,385 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, says the territory’s Health Ministry.
Bhagwat will address the RSS annual Vijyadashmi Utsav in Nagpur on October 24 on the occasion of Dussehra, for which the organisation has invited singer Shankar Mahadevan as the chief guest.
