India”s aid came in three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. During the conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured to continue sending humanitarian assistance to Palestinians. He also then conveyed his condolences on the loss of civilian lives in the Gaza strip due to bombing on the hospital.
“Shared our deep concern at the terrorism, violence and deteriorating security situation in the region. Reiterated India”s long-standing principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue,” PM Modi said.
Meanwhile, on Saturday 20 humanitarian aid trucks were send to Palestinian side along Al Rafah border. Rafah is the only border in Gaza which is not controlled by Israel and was agreed upon to be opened following a request from US. The Rafah crossing is situated at the southern part of Gaza bordering Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Meanwhile, Israel is preparing for a ground offensive in Gaza with a coordinated approach in order to take on Hamas.
