New Delhi: In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, India has called for a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, the Union government said. This position was stated by Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, in Parliament on Friday, July 25, while responding to a starred question posed by Lok Sabha MPs Subbarayan K and Selvaraj V.

The government highlighted that India strongly condemned the terror attacks in Israel that occurred on October 7, 2023, and the loss of all civilian lives in the ongoing conflict. Consequently, India remains concerned about the security situation and has reiterated its call for a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Minister further pointed out that India has also stressed the need for safe, timely, and sustained delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine. Additionally, India has emphasised that fostering closer ties between Israel and Palestine would help set the stage for early direct peace negotiations.

“India’s policy towards Palestine has been long standing. India has always supported a negotiated two State solution, towards establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine within secure and recognized borders, living side by side in peace with Israel,” Minister said.
